Family Visas

Australian Family Visas

At SJ Migration, we understand that family reunification is one of the most important aspects of migration. Australian family visas are complex, and selecting the correct visa pathway is critical to a successful outcome.

The Australian family visa program is designed to allow eligible partners, parents, children, and other relatives to migrate to Australia, either temporarily or permanently. Each visa subclass carries distinct eligibility requirements, sponsorship obligations, and processing timeframes. For example, some visas allow the applicant to remain in Australia on a bridging visa during processing, while others must be applied for and granted offshore.

Let our experienced migration team guide you through the evidentiary requirements and find the most strategic visa option for your family.

Partner Visas (Subclass 820/801, 309/100, 300) ➔

A partner visa application requires comprehensive, chronological evidence demonstrating a genuine and continuing relationship. Submitting an application without a strong evidentiary strategy can lead to significant delays, requests for further information, or refusal.

Parent Visas ➔

These visas allow the parents of a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to migrate to Australia. A fundamental requirement for most parent visas is satisfying the “Balance of Family Test” and meeting Assurance of Support criteria.

Subclass 600

Visitor Visas for Parents and Family ➔

The Visitor visa (Subclass 600) is frequently used by parents and relatives for temporary stays, family events, and spending time with children or grandchildren in Australia. Long-validity options may be available for parents of Australian citizens and permanent residents.

Remaining Relative Visa

If you and your partner have no near relatives living outside Australia, this visa may allow you to migrate to Australia to be with your only remaining near relatives. Note: This visa is subject to capping and queuing, resulting in extended processing times.

Carer Visa

If you have an eligible relative in Australia who suffers from a long-term or permanent medical condition and requires significant assistance that cannot reasonably be provided by any other relative or Australian welfare services, this visa may provide a permanent pathway.
