The Subclass 491 visa is a provisional skilled visa for eligible applicants who are nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member in designated regional Australia.
For suitable applicants, regional migration can create opportunities that may not be available through metropolitan pathways. Visa holders must comply with the conditions attached to their visa and may later become eligible for a permanent regional pathway if the relevant requirements are met.
The Subclass 191 visa provides a permanent residence pathway for eligible holders of specified regional provisional visas. Regional visa planning should therefore consider both the initial provisional visa and the requirements for the intended permanent pathway at the time of application.
